Buying gift wrapping paper at the store can be expensive, and it isn't as much fun as creating your own wrapping paper. You can make wrapping paper for kids, or help your children make wrapping paper that they can use when gift giving. Sometimes the wrapping paper can be more special than what is inside.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunday newspaper Paper sack Butcher paper Acrylic paint Sponge Potato Knife Rubber stamps Colored ink pads White glue Paintbrush Magazines Paper doilies Colored tissue paper Glue stick
  1. Step 1

Save the Sunday comics. The colorful Sunday comics is one of the easiest way to wrap up gifts in affordable and interesting paper. Technically speaking, when you use the funny papers, it isn't making wrapping paper as much as it is recycling.

  2. Step 2

Cut large paper sacks to create a piece of flat wrapping paper. Decorate the outside of the paper with finger paints, rubber stamps or sponge painting, or make your own stamp by cutting a raw potato in half and carving a design into the cut side. Acrylic paints work well. Instead of a brown paper sack, butcher paper will also work.

  3. Step 3

Decoupage pictures onto the paper from paper sacks instead of applying paint or ink, as in Step 2. To do this, search through old magazines, and cut out interesting pictures. Use white glue, thinned with a little water, to apply to the outside of the paper. Coat the outside of the picture with the glue mixture after applying, and allow it to dry.

  4. Step 4

Glue paper doilies onto one side of colored tissue paper. The colored tissue paper will peek through the cutouts of the doilies. Wrap the packages carefully, so as not to tear the tissue paper.
