Things You'll Need:
- Pipe wrench for 2" pipe
- Box wrenches for bolts and nuts
- Screwdriver
- Pipe dope or Teflon tape
- PVC clue and primer if needed
- Hack saw or pipe cutters
-
Step 1
Attach the pump to the motor, usually with 8 bolts and nuts
-
Step 2
Attach the water line coming from the pool to the suction side of the pump. A shut off or diverter valve should be placed on the suction side of the pump.
-
Step 3
Attach a line to the outlet side of the pump.
-
Step 4
Connect the filter assembly to the discharge line from the pump using unions so that removal of the filter for any reason is easier.
-
Step 5
Connect a back flush valve on the discharge side of the filter to periodically back flush or clean the filter. This diverts the water from the pool to an outside area.
-
Step 6
Connect a shut off valve and a pipe that returns to the pool. Shut off valves on the intake and discharge side of the pump and filter are recommended in order that equipment can be removed without water being siphoned from the pool.
-
Step 7
Use union fittings between each piece of equipment so that removal of any piece for replacement or repair is easier.
