How to Open a Movado Watch

Movado is a Swiss made watch. Most Movados are quartz, meaning they are battery operated, so you can open the back of the watch case to replace the battery. Any other repairs should be made by an authorized Movado repair store, so the watch is not damaged.

Open a Movado Case

1. Slide the case opener knife between the watch back and the case. You can use a tiny screwdriver that can be used for eyeglasses, for example, rather than the case opener knife, but there is a risk that you will scratch the case with the screwdriver.

2. Pry the case open by wiggling the case opener knife and pushing down on the handle. This will pop the back open. It is a simple process, but may require some force.

3. Lift the case back fully open. You will see an "o" ring or rubber gasket inside the case. Remove it and set it aside. When you close the case it is important to replace this "o" ring properly to ensure the case is waterproof.
