How to Make Homemade Body Oil

Body oil is used to moisturize dry skin and give dull skin a shine and luster. It's also used during body massages to make skin more pliable. Body oil is made by combining naturally-moisturizing and fragrant oils that hydrate and refresh dry, cracked, tired skin. Body oil you make also can be used as a shaving lubricant. With regular use of the oil, you'll notice that shaving your body hair is more efficient and causes fewer nicks and cuts.

Things You'll Need

• Vitamin E
• Jojoba oil
• Almond oil
• Distilled water
• Sweet orange essential oil
• Vanilla essential oil
• Neroli essential oil
• Lemon essential oil
• Bergamot essential oil

Instructions

1. Buy all the ingredients from a whole foods store or makeup wholesaler. Almond oil, distilled water and Vitamin E are available at most organic foods stores and some supermarkets. Essential oils most likely will have to be purchased at a store that sells makeup ingredients. Check the Resources section for links to online sellers.

2. Combine 10 drops of each essential oil in a glass bottle and allow to mellow for at least two to three days. This will enhance the individual fragrances, making the finished body oil more aromatic.

3. Add 4 oz. distilled water, 3 oz. sweet almond oil, 2 oz. jojoba oil and a teaspoon of Vitamin E to the glass bottle containing the essential oils. Gently shake the bottle to blend the ingredients.

4. Pour a few drops of the body oil into your palm. Rub your palms together and apply the lotion anywhere on your body that you need extra hydrating. Store the bottle in a cool, dry place for future use.

Tips & Warnings

• Refrigeration prolongs the shelf life of body oil. If you want to make larger amounts of this body oil, double or triple the ingredients.
