1
Give the child a phone number and have her make words from the corresponing letters on the phone pad. Use your own phone number and the phone numbers of loved ones and friends.

Have a group of children form a circle. Call out a word to be spelled and have each child spell one letter of the word going around the circle. When the word is complete, have the child say "Sparkle," or any other fun word that is decided upon by the group. Any time a mistake is made that child must sit down. The last child who remains standing is declared the winner.

4
Give a child a word and practice making new words with the same letter pattern. For example begin with the word "track." Ask the child what could be changed to form the words: "back," "sack," "slack," or "black." Use varying letter and sound patterns.

5
Play a word hunt game by having your child search for spelling words in magazines, newspapers or books. Each time the word is found, read the sentence aloud and review the word's meaning.
