Remove the Murlo Trojan for Free

The Murlo Trojan virus is installed on your computer without your permission when you download a fake anti-virus program, such as IE Defender, that is actually malicious software in disguise. The Trojan can be hard to remove with regular anti-virus software because it infects so many different areas on your computer. The best way to remove the Trojan is to manually shut down all the files the Murlo virus uses and then delete them on your own.

      The Task Manager Processes Tab

      Open up the Task Manager window by pressing the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keyboard keys all at the same time. Click on the "Open Task Manager" button and then navigate to the "Processes" tab. Click on the button labeled as "Image Name" to arrange all of the files currently in use by you operating system alphabetically.

      The End Process Button

      Scroll down through the various files that your computer is using and locate the entry labeled as "1_exception.nls." Click on the entry to highlight it. Click on the "End Process" button at the lower right corner of the "Task Manager" window.

      Find and end the process for the files named "update92620748.exe," "xebrnwes.exe," "33[1]," "cejo13.sys," "60787[1].exe," "ieupdater[1].exe," "count[1].htm," "loader[1]," "crldr[1]," "file_2.exe," "hd1.tmp," "hd2.tmp," "main.sys," "ptotsc.dll," "mad[1]," "pkh7.sys," "rpcc.exe," "runonce.tm," and "tpktskend.htm." Close the Task Manager window.

      The Search Box

      Click on the "Start" button at the bottom left corner of your desktop and then click on the search box. Type in the phrase "vturppp.dll" and hit the "Enter" key. Right-click the file when it appears in the search result and choose "Properties." Take note of the file path listed in the "Properties" menu.

      The Command Prompt Window

      Return to the search box and type in the phrase "CMD." Double-click the search result when it appears on the screen to bring up the command prompt window. Type in the letters "CD" followed by the file path you noted down earlier, such as "CD C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\ie_updater\." Hit the "Enter" key.

      Type in the phrase "regsvr32" followed by the Murlo DLL file you need to remove from your computer, such as "regsvr32 vturppp.dll" and then hit the "Enter" key. Repeat the process for the DLL files named "spads.dll," "jkklm.dll," "poswin.dll," "pwnbho.dll," "huriscos.dll," "oggview32.dll," "dataclenu.dll," "PhWh11M3.dll," "hsirziq.dll," "domnftwpto.dll," "isfmdl.dll," "qomllji.dll," "pdswin.dll," "pbukv2.dll," and "tgfaifwm.dll."

      The Regedit Program

      Return to the search box and type in each of the files that you ended the processes for and each of the DLLs that you removed. Right-click on each of the files when they appear in the search results and choose the "Delete" option. Type in the phrase "Regedit" in the search result and double-click the program when it appears in the search results.

      Press the "Ctrl," and "F" buttons together at the same time to call up the find box. Type the phrase "8E015787-B1E3-404a-95DE-3E71E1FA0305" and hit the "Enter" key. Right-click the entry when it appears and delete it. Repeat the process for the registry entries named "4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-A0E8-F479B685FA7D

      Restart the computer to finish removing the Murlo Trojan virus.

Tips & Warnings

  • Save backup copies of any files you can't afford to lose to an external source before deleting any of your computer's registry entries. Your computer requires certain registry files to operate properly, so if you accidentally delete the wrong ones you may have to completely reinstall your operating system.
