Install Bathroom Shower Faucets

It only takes a few dollars and minutes to transform your shower. Take that old shower head off and install a rain shower head for less than $50 and in 10 minutes. Then jump in and let the gentle rain fall relax you!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • New Rain Shower Head
  • Locking Plyers
  • Plumbers Tape
  1. Step 1

Remove your old shower head. You may need to use the plyers to loosen the fitting. Be careful, there will probably be a little water in the short pipe running to the shower head. Completely unscrew the head and clean off any old plumbers tape residue on the short pipe.

  2. Step 2

Take the new roll of plumbers tape and smoothly wind a couple of layers around the threaded part of the pipe coming out of the wall.

  3. Step 3

You can now attach the new rain shower head to the pipe. Remember to turn the head to the right to tighten. If you need to get the fitting a little tighter, use your locking plyers to tighten.

  4. Step 4

Step out of the shower and turn the water on. Make sure that you don't have any leaks at the fitting. If you do have a leak, tighten the fitting some more. If that does not stop the water leak, then remove the new shower head and add another layer of plumbers tape. Then attach the new shower head over the additional layer of plumbers tape again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch for stored water when you remove the old shower head.
