Peppermint PlantFor a quick tea garden start with mints, and chamomile, they take off quickly. Plant all different kinds of seeds for variety. Herb garden dirt should start with a pH of about 7.0 and a sunny location. German chamomile is not that sensitive.
If you have poor soil use the German chamomile. It loves junky soil. Roman Chamomile if you have good conditions. -
Step 2
Chamomile FlowersChamomile flowers look like daisies. You can use them fresh or dried.
Harvest a bundle of flowers making sure to leave 8 to 12 inches of stem.
Tie the stems together. Hang upside down in a dry sunny place until the blossoms are dry. Cut off the dried flower heads and lay them out to dry in a sunny spot. -
Step 3
Fresh Chamomile TeaYou can hang all your herbs this way to dry. Fresh herbs have a more robust flavor. If you choose to dry them keep the leaves as intact as possible and avoid losing any of the essential oils. The oils have healing principles and might be lost when the herb is crushed or crumbled.
