Many of heard the word eco friendly or green before. As a conservative I do not believe in global warming, but I do believe in keeping our environment as clean as possible. I like to be green the old fashion way.

  1. Step 1

    There are many things to do in keeping up with the eco friendly craze. Look around the house and see what you can do. Some ways can be very cheap and cost effective. Others might be pricey to do but is cost effective in the long run. Some of the things you can do is:

    1-Recycle old clothing.
    2-Buy wood furniture and repaint when needed.
    3-Eco friendly carpet such as bamboo or carpet made of garbage.
    4-Recycle old cans and newspapers.
    5-Use Solar panels and products for your home. It will save you money on the electric and water bill.
    6-Put a brick in your toilet tank, it will save water.
    7-Buy a garbage decomposer.
    8-Plant your own vegetable and fruit garden and use non toxic fertilizers to keep plants healthy.
    9-Convert your gas to vegetable oil. It's free from restaurants.
    10-Use a wood fireplace instead of gas. Wood can be free. (Neighbors, and tree companies give them to you for free.)
    11-Always use paper products and not plastic if you could.
    12-Carpool to work, the mall, church and etc.
    13-Throw a recycle party twice a year with friends, family, neighbors, and networking groups.
    14-Recycle all batteries, cell phones, appliances and electronics.
    15-Donate books no longer needed to local schools and library, or even have an exchange book club.
    16-Buy recyclable products.
    17-Use cloth bags at grocery stores and not plastic.
    18-Use organic cleaning products.
    19-Use flourescent bulbs.
    20-Turn off water and electricity when not in use.
    21-Go with wood flooring, stone or cement as floors instead.
    22-Use non toxic paint when painting your home.

    There are many other cost effective ways to put the bucks in your bottom line. It all adds up, and the returns are great. You can also join freecycle.com and swap with other people in your community. Just use your God given imagination and go nuts and save.

  • Start a community swap garden. Plants different produce with neighbors and exchange with items you do not have.
