We will be going over how to effectively drive traffic to your website by using Pay Per Click Advertising.

  1. Step 1

    First you will need to choose which Pay Per Click engines & directories you'll be using, such as Google, Overture, Microsoft Ad Center, Yahoo! Search Marketing. There are hundreds of choices, so if you are new to PPC advertising, you may want to start with Google Adwords.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the keywords you wish to use in order to target your audience. Google has a tool to help you choose your keywords. Try not to go overboard with your keywords. Consider sticking with under 20 if you can. The top 5 keywords are the most important ones, so choose them wisely.

  3. Step 3

    Once you have chosen your kewords, you can put together your ad campaign. What will grab your audiences attention? Put together a few different ad campaigns, and track them to see which ones are producing more traffic and sales.

  4. Step 4

    What is your budget? You need to figure out how much you are willing to spend on your PPC advertising. Also, understand that you can change your bidding, keywords and campaigns whenever you like if the performance is not reaching your expectations. Be patient though. Don't go changing them every day, or you'll never know which campaigns are working for you.

  5. Step 5

    Now you are ready to place your ad. Each PPC program opperates differently, so all you have to do is follow the process step by step, and your ad will be on the search engines in no time. Be sure to read the Helpful tips, and good luck with your PPC advertising.

  • Take special care in creating a description for your site, which will help increase your traffic.
  • Be sure to include your keyword phrase in the title and description that you create.
  • If your site is new, with very little or no visibility, pay engines are a great way to get started fast.
  • PPC is ideal for special sales, holiday promotions, or to jump start traffic.
  • It's not always important to be #1 in the rankings. Many compulsive clickers will automatically click on the top result, whether they're interested or not.
  • Choose very targeted keywords so that you don't pay for uneccessary click throughs.
  • Costs will skyrocket with general keywords, so try not to choose the general ones.
