You love to bead and you are starting to build up quite a collection of beaded treasures. There is that fabulous strand of beads you are saving for a really special occasion and all those wonderful beads left over from some of your earring, bracelet and necklace projects. The question is how to store your beads until you are ready to use them the next time you make jewelry. This article will provide a variety of ways to store your beads.

Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Clear plastic boxes.

    Clear plastic boxes.

18 or 24 divided storage boxes are great for organizing your beads. These items can be found in your local bead, shop, hardware store or craft shop. Note that an eco-friendly, inexpensive alternative to purchasing divided plastic storage boxes is to clean and reuse egg cartons.

  2. Step 2

Storage containers sold at hardware store with small drawers designed for storing nuts and bolts are excellent for holding beads, findings and other small jewelry components.

  3. Step 3

If you chose to stick with storing your beads in plastic zip lock bags, you may find it easier if you sort the bags by type or color of beads and put them in a divided drawer. Fabric drawer divider units can be found at stores like Ikea or the Container store.

  4. Step 4
    Button or medicine tubes.

    Button or medicine tubes.

Tubes, such as old medicine bottles and containers that buttons are sold in, are terrific items to reuse as containers for beads and small jewelry parts.

  5. Step 5
    Mint tins.

    Mint tins.

Old mint tins can be easily stacked and used to store beads, ear wires, head pins and other small jewelry parts and findings.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is a good idea to write the type of beads and how much it cost on the bead container regardless of how you chose to organize and store your beads,
  • Beads can be choking hazards to small children, take all reasonable precautions.
