Things You'll Need:
- Manage your weight
- Physical activity
- Stop smoking
- Decrease your alcohol
- Manage stress
-
Step 1
Managing your weight and keeping it at an appropriate level will not only make you feel better but will help keep your blood pressure under control as well. If you are unsure about how to lower your weight, talk to your doctor or dietician.
-
Step 2
I know this sound like a bad word, but if you are not physically moving, you are putting yourself at risk. By staying active, you will reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke and once you get the hang of it, it can become a lot of fun. Choose a fitness program you can enjoy.
-
Step 3
Smoking is another major factor in heart disease. Do as much as you can or whatever it takes to eliminate this risk. If you need help, seek advice or medication from your health care provider.
-
Step 4
Now, I don’t drink but for those that do, from our research and advisors(dieticians and nutritionist) and what my company recommends for our clients is that they should not have more than 1 drink per day for women and 2 drinks a day for men.
-
Step 5
What stress does is it increases your blood pressure. When you feel stress coming on, STOP! Take a few deep breaths to calm down then proceed with caution.
