Here are some simple directions on how to remove windshield moulding that will help you to detach the glass panel and be ready to put in a new windshield without too much trouble.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windshield trim removal tool
  • Utility knife
  • Screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Locate the trim piece on the top of the windshield on the passenger side of the vehicle. Insert the trim removal tool in between the trim piece and the weather sealing to loosen the trim. Slide the trim tool under the windshield trim until you feel it catch on the first clip that holds the trim on the glass.

  2. Step 2

Lift the trim tool up to unseat the clip from the windshield until you feel the clip release. Continue to slide the tool along the underside of the trim, and repeat the process of releasing the clips around the entire windshield. Remove all the trim pieces from around the windshield.

  3. Step 3

Cut a slit in the weather seal with a utility knife to allow the windshield to come loose from the seal. Carefully slide a straight edge like a screwdriver between the seal and windshield to unseat it from the seal around the entire windshield.

  4. Step 4

Remove the windshield by having someone inside the vehicle carefully push the glass out as you guide it away from the window frame. Use a utility knife to remove any remaining weather seal from around the window frame.
