How to Troubleshoot a Ford 500 CD Changer

The Ford 500 is a full-sized sedan that was produced from 2004 to 2007. One of the major upgrades available in a Ford 500 was the inclusion of a multi-disk CD changer, which allows you to load several CDs at a time and choose which CD to play. These changers, however, can experience technical problems. Before taking your car in for repair, there are a few troubleshooting steps that might solve some of your CD changer problems.

Instructions

1. Eject every CD that is loaded in the CD changer and then reload the CDs if a particular disk will not play. The most common problem with the Ford 500 CD changer is that CDs won't play. By reloading disks, this problem often can be solved.

2. Check to make sure the disks you've loaded are not too damaged or scratched if you are experiencing problems playing CDs.

3. Disconnect the battery terminal for at least 10 minutes before reconnecting the terminal if you are having problems ejecting a disk. Disconnecting the terminal will reset the entire CD changer.

4. Make sure that your receiver input is set to the CD changer. Oftentimes, disks will not play because the incorrect input is selected.

5. Load one disk at a time in each changer slot if one particular slot is not functioning properly. This will help you identify the broken CD slot.
