First, familiarize yourself with the balls used to play the game of pool. There are 15 balls in a standard pool or billiard rack. Numbers 1 through 8 are solid. Numbers 9 through 15 are striped. These are known as the object balls. The cue ball is solid white and has no number.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Drawing pad of plain, unlined paper
  • Drawing compass
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Black marker
  • Chalk pastels, oil pastels, crayons, oil or acrylic paint, colored pencils or colored markers
  • Colors needed: yellow, blue, red, purple, orange, green, maroon, black, white

    Drawing the Ball

  1. Step 1
Drawing the border of the ball

Using a compass, decide the diameter of the ball and draw a circle on the page. The actual size of a pool or pocket billiard ball is 2 1/4 inches in diameter. Set the compass diameter at half that--1 1/8 inches.

  2. Step 2
Drawing the number circle within the ball

Using the compass, set the diameter of the circle the number on the ball will appear in and draw that circle on the ball. The circle should be approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. Set the diameter of the compass at half of that, or 1/4 inch.

  3. Step 3
    Numbering the ball

Using the black marker, draw the appropriate number in the number circle. The numbers range from 1 to 15.

With your selected medium, in this case a marker, add the appropriate color corresponding to the number.

Tips & Warnings
  • Only use the black marker for writing the numbers. It is not necessary to use it for the ball's border or to separate the colors on the striped balls or the border of the number circle.
  • Be sure to match the numbers with the correct colors. The cue ball is solid white. The No. 1 ball is solid yellow. The No. 2 ball is solid blue. The No. 3 ball is solid red. The No. 4 ball is solid purple. The No. 5 ball is solid orange. The No. 6 ball is solid green. The No. 7 ball is solid maroon. The No. 8 ball is solid black. The No. 9 ball is striped yellow. The No. 10 ball is striped blue. The No. 11 ball is striped red. The No. 12 ball is striped purple. The No. 13 ball is striped orange. The No. 14 ball is striped green. The No. 15 ball is striped maroon.
