Things You'll Need:
- New dishwasher door seal
- Screwdriver
-
Step 1
Get the make and model number from your dishwasher and purchase a new seal at a plumbing supply store.
-
Step 2
Fill your sink with warm water and place the new seal in it to loosen it while you take out the old gasket.
-
Step 3
Loosen the screws in the retainer that holds the old gasket in place, but do not take them out completely. Pull the old gasket and discard.
-
Step 4
Start at one of the bottom corners and work the new gasket into the retainer. Work your way around back to the starting point, slightly tightening the retainer screws as you go. This will help keep it in place as you slide it under the retainer.
-
Step 5
Check the seal for twisting anywhere along its length and where the two ends meet. If it is twisted, loosen the screw and pull it straight. If the ends don't meet, it will need to be stretched.
-
Step 6
Tighten the screws all the way around. Do not over-tighten or you will twist the seal and it will leak. Close the door and run the dishwasher through a cycle. If the dishwasher leaks, check to the door is correctly lined up. The door can be adjusted with the latch.
