Step 1
Turn off the electricity supply to the room where you will be installing your light fixture as well as to the room directly above your fixture.
-
Step 2
Locate the circuit box you are going to use to power the lighting fixture. If there is a light fixture in this general vicinity, all you will be doing is hanging your light fixture, then reconnecting the light bulbs to the circuit box.
-
Step 3
Remove any existing light bulbs and unscrew the panel to gain access to the circuit box. You are going to be connecting your light fixture to the wires you see under the panel.
-
Step 4
Install the light fixture's chain to the wall by attaching the support bar to the ceiling. Hold the support bar on the spot you want it on the ceiling and screw the corresponding screws in place. The support bar should also land across the circuit box. Attach the chain to the support bar by hanging links on the chain on the bar.
-
Step 5
Find the electrical wires on the circuit box and on the light fixture. Connect the two wires. Slide the color-coded wires from the light fixture into the wire accepting holes on the circuit box. Close the latches on the circuit box to secure the wires in place.
-
Step 6
Connect the remaining parts of the light fixture to the chain by running the power cord through the links of the chain. Screw light bulbs into the light fixture sockets. Turn the electricity to your home back on.
