How to Make Wrestling Ropes for a Trampoline

Newer trampolines often come with netting on the sides to help hold younger children in. But as a trampoline ages, these safety devices can sometimes tear or break, leaving the trampoline open. One solution to this safety hazard is to string up a set of wrestling ropes, similar to the kind that circles a boxing ring. But for the price you pay for a set of ready-made ropes, it might be easier to buy a new trampoline. Fortunately, you can make a set of wrestling ropes yourself for a fraction of the cost.

Things You'll Need

  • Sturdy nylon rope
  • Thin nylon clothesline
  • Lead fishing weight
  • Garden hose

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length between the trampoline net supports using the tape measure.

    • 2

Cut the garden hose to the length of the net supports.

    • 3

Tie the lead fishing weight to the end of the clothesline, and using the weight, thread the clothesline through the garden hose.

    • 4

Tie the thin clothesline to the end of the sturdy nylon rope, and use the clothesline to pull the rope back through the garden hose.

    • 5

Suspend the rope-filled garden hose between the netting supports on the trampoline by tying the rope ends very securely to the supports. Repeat this process for each side of the trampoline.
