How to Insert Tampon the First Time

A female can start to use tampons as long as she is menstruating, so there is no definite age a women need to reach before using them. However, it is suggested that better for a female to wait to use tampons until having a regular cycle and can predict the amount of flow. This is important to estimate absorbency necessary to change the tampon, that normally falls between 4 to 8 hours.

      The important key is to relax. Being tense about it will only making insertion more difficult. Get into a position that make you most relax and comfortable. Some suggestions:

      (1) Sit on an object (i.e. toilet) with your knees wide apart.
      (2) Stand with one leg on an object (i.e. chair) with the other leg on the ground.
      (3) Sit on the bed with your legs wide open, the mattress serve as a support for your legs.

      Remember, your muscles tense up if you are worried. Take a few deep breaths to help yourself relax.

      Remove both tubes. The tampon should now be inside you with the pull cord hanging outside your vagina. Once you are ready and the tampon is soiled, relax and use the pull cord to help you remove it. The cord should point downwards at about the angle as you insert the tampon.
