The letter P offers fun activities to improve letter recognition. Spend plenty of time on the letter P to improve letter recognition in your child.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Introduce the letter P through visual and verbal practice. Show your child the shape of the letter P and practice the sound it makes.

  2. Step 2

    Make a homemade pizza. You can use a pita or English muffin as the crust to make a simple pizza. Spread on the sauce, add cheese, and top with meat and vegetables. Make the letter P on top of the pizza with the toppings.

  3. Step 3

    Make snacks that start with the letter P. Popcorn, homemade popsicles, pancakes, pudding, pretzels, pineapple and peanut butter cookies are good choices.

  4. Step 4

    Make potato prints. Cut a potato in half. Cut the letter P into the potato. Let your child put the potato P in paint and stamp in on paper.

  5. Step 5

    Make pine cone creatures. Collect pine cones, leaves and other natural objects. Glue the gather items onto the pine cone to create a creature.

  6. Step 6

    Make homemade pretzels in the shape of the letter P. See the resources section below for a recipe.

  7. Step 7

    Have a picnic in the backyard or at a park. Include lots of foods that start with the letter P.

  8. Step 8

    Make a puzzle. Have your child draw a picture on a piece of cardboard. Cut the picture into puzzle pieces. Have your child put her picture puzzle back together.

  9. Step 9

    Make puppets out of socks or paper bags. Give your child yarn, googly eyes, markers, and other craft supplies to add details to the puppets. Put on a puppet show.

  10. Step 10

    Have a pajama day. Stay in your pajamas all day long. Watch the movie Pinocchio while snacking on popcorn.

  11. Step 11

    Plant some seeds and watch them grow. Consider growing something that starts with the letter P such as peas, peppers, or pansies.

  12. Step 12

    Review the letter P, its sound, and words that start with the letter.
