Things You'll Need:
- 5 slices bacon
- 2 teaspoons chopped parsley flakes
- 12-ounce dried corkscrew, bow tie, shell, or penne pasta
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/5 teaspoon dried hot pepper flakes
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 2-1/2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Step 1
Blanched broccoli floretsWash and clean the broccoli florets. Boil hot water and add a pinch of salt in a pot, put in the broccoli when the water is bubbling, 1 minute. Scoop blanched broccoli florets and drain with a strainer. Rinse under cold water to keep its color, 15 seconds. Set aside.
-
Step 2
Frying the chopped baconCut bacon crosswise into 1/4 inch strips. Sear over high heat in skillet until done; crisp and lightly brown. Drain grease and transfer to bowl or plate, keep warm.
-
Step 3
Cooked penne pastaCook pasta [of your choice, (see the "Things You'll Need" list for recommending variety)] in boiling water, according to package instructions with a pinch of salt, to prevent sticking.
Add chopped cilantro flakes. Cook until done. Drain and set aside. -
Step 4
While pasta is cooking, in a skillet, saute onion and garlic with cooking oil over medium heat, 3 minutes. Stir in the red pepper flakes and chicken broth. Add pasta, stirring. Cook ingredients for 1 minute.
-
Step 5
Penne pasta and bacon broccoliTransfer contents from skillet to a large bowl. Stir in the bacon and broccoli. Toss well and spoon on plates. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese before serving.
