Summertime and the livin' is....swelteringly hot! If you don't have the cash for an air conditioner, here is an easy way to get some cool breeze going that won't break your bank.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start with the clean empty milk jugs. Fill them halfway to three quarters with water and put the cap back on. You need to leave room for the water to expand as it freezes. Set them in your freezer. You may not have room for both but thats OK, just start with one for now. The bonus here is that the frozen water helps the efficiency of your freezer by filling up empty spaces. Once the water is frozen go to step two.

  2. Step 2

Plug in your electric fan and set it in front of a table the same height as the bottom of the fan. A TV tray table works perfectly. Fold the hand towel in half and lay it on the table. Put the milk jug of frozen water on the table in behind the fan. Turn the fan on. The fan will pull the air past the frozen milk jug and cool the room.

  3. Step 3

When you take one milk jug out of the freezer, put the other one in. This way you always have one frozen. For maximum effect, lay on the floor in front of the fan. The cool air will drift down over you and cool you off quickly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep rotating the milk jugs to ensure you always have one ready.
  • Take care with children and pets in the room, make sure they don't knock over your "air conditioner".

on 5/27/2009 If freezer space is a problem, you can always use smaller containers of frozen water.
