The very first step is go to the cbp.gov website to find and apply for any available positions. This is just the very beginning of a long process so you need to make sure you wish to become a US Customs and Border Patrol Agent. There will be several links at the end of the website for these sites I'm about to mention.

After you have filled out an application to become a US Customs and Border Patrol Agent then there are several other steps. They will contact you if interested and have you take a written test. In order to pass the test it's required that each candidate score at least 70%.

If chosen from the group that passed the test then each individual will have to pass a background check, drug test and physical checkup as well. This is all required in order to become a US Customs and Border Patrol Agent. If unable to meet these requirements then this probably isn't a job to pursue anyways.

One final thing to keep in mind is your location and age. If you're 45 years old and live in Virginia then don't expect to be chosen to become a US Customs and Border Patrol Agent. The Department of Homeland Security usually doesn't allow newcomers to be older than 40 years old.
