As previously stated obtaining a business license is a very simple procedure and shouldn't cost a lot of money if any as well as usually taking less than a day to do. The first thing you will need to do is locate your state's website. You can do this by simple performing a Google search for your state.

Once you've found your state's website you will need to find the address for the secretary of state office location. If you can't find it on the the state's website find the number for the state's information telephone number. From there they will be able to provide you with the correct address and/or phone number for your local secretary of state's office. This is the office where you will get your new business license.

Once entering the office you will need to fill out a few forms for your new business license. These are very simple forms detailing the name, location, and type of business you are looking to open. Some state's offer the form to be downloaded off of there website. All you will need to do is fill the forms out and send in any fee that is required. In a few weeks they will mail back to you a copy of your new business license.

Remember that you will have to renew your business license once a year. Each state has a different date for when you have to renew but they usually mail you a copy of the form way ahead of time. Keep your business license on file at the location of your business.
