      Take a cotton ball and soak it in vanilla extract and place it in a small dish. Another trick using vanilla extract is to place a tad on a light bulb and then turn on the light. The warmth from the light will feel the room with scent. Make sure the bulb is cool before touching!

      Place a pot of water with cinnamon sticks and cloves on top of the stove. Using lemon, orange and apple peels works well too.

      Freshen drawers or shoes by placing some baking soda in the middle of a new paper coffee filter. Bring up the sides and tie it shut to make your own sachets.

      Place one layer of rose petals into a glass jar and then sprinkle with salt. Repeat until there are several layers. Seal the jar with a lid. After awhile, open the lid to release the smell of roses.

      Crush 1/4 cup of dried sage and 1/2 cup dried bay leaves and mix with 1 cup of witch hazel. Place it in a glass jar and cover. Let the mixture sit for three or four days, then filter out the herbs. Pour the liquid in a spray bottle and use as an air freshener.
