If a pressure hose breaks, it most likely will be at the end. If it breaks along the length of the hose, it usually is because a kink has caused pressure to build up. Relieving the kink and splicing the break will likely address the problem. For more complicated repairs to the end of the hose, a few more steps are required.

How to Fix a Pressure Washer Hose

  1. Step 1

Relieve the pressure by cutting off the pressure source, which can be water or air. Make sure the break is at the end of the hose and not somewhere along the hose's length.

  2. Step 2

Cut off the damaged end of the hose with a utility knife. Make sure you get a good, clean, straight cut that is perpendicular to the hose.

  3. Step 3

Using the end repair kit, slip the ferrule (collar) around the hose. It will slip loosely outside the hose.

  4. Step 4

Insert the barrel of the new end into the hose. It should be a tight fit.

  5. Step 5

Pull the ferrule (collar) up to the new insert and crimp. You can use a pliers or a special crimp tool. Make sure the crimping is tight.

  6. Step 6

Reattach the hose to the pressure washer and apply pressure--water and/or air. Check for leaks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember: Pressure will build wherever the line is kinked or bent. Make sure there are no additional restrictions before working on the hose.
  • When working around pressurized lines, wear safety goggles. Be aware of where loose lines may thrash free.
