Make a Paint Gun Shoot Slower

A faster-shooting paintball gun is generally more accurate, but if you want a gun for close-range shooting, a slower muzzle speed is the safer choice. The simplest and most reliable way to make a paintball gun shoot slower is to reduce the barrel length.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Secure the gun in the vise in an upright position.

  2. Step 2

Use the screwdriver to remove any plastic capping that may be on the end of the gun's barrel.

  3. Step 3

Choose your cutting point. On a longer-barreled gun, you might take off as much as six inches. On a shorter gun, an inch or two is usually enough.

  4. Step 4

Saw the end of the paint gun's barrel off with the hacksaw, making sure to keep the cut perfectly vertical.

  5. Step 5

File the freshly sawed edge of the barrel to a smooth finish and to even off any inconsistencies at the muzzle.

  6. Step 6

Replace the plastic capping at the end of the barrel.
