      Bearded Iris

      Purchase or dig up different colors of Iris plants. Make sure the plants are marked by color for correct planting.

      Japanese Iris

      Lay out the design of the specialty garden by placing the iris plants by flowering season first, such as bearded iris bloom in the spring. Then combine Japanese iris, which blooms in the summer. Separate Siberian iris, which blooms in the late to early fall.

      Position the bulbs or plants so that the bright hues are planted in the front, light shades in the back and contrasting or medium colors in the middle for blending.
