Things You'll Need:
- Wood (you can use any hardwood---teak or cherry for a finer finish)
- Wood glue
- Finishing nails
- Four hinges
- Two hanging braces
-
Step 1
Cut your wood for the back of the cabinet. You will need a pentagon with right-angled corners at the base and a right angle at the peak, with sides measuring measuring 24 inches (base), 20 inches (sides) and 17 inches (top slanted edges).
-
Step 2
Cut three-inch planks for the bottom and sides of the cabinet, one 24 inches, two 20 inches and two 17 inches.
-
Step 3
Cut the doors for the front of the cabinet. Each of the two doors will measure 12 inches at the base, 32 inches on the long (inside) edge, 20 inches on the shorter (outside) edge, and 17 inches across the slanted top.
-
Step 4
Bevel the corners of the two planks to form the top slanted sides of the cabinet, angling the end to 45 degrees, so they will sit flush.
-
Step 5
Lay the back board flat horizontally; use wood glue to fasten the sides and bottom in place.
-
Step 6
When the glue has dried, flip the piece over and secure the attachment with finishing nails from the back of the board.
-
Step 7
Attach the hinges to the insides of the 20-inch side boards, one at the top and bottom of each side.
-
Step 8
Attach the doors to the hinges carefully, making sure the doors can close completely without hitting each other.
-
Step 9
Attach your mounting braces to the back of the cabinet, one at either side, so you can hang the board.
-
Step 10
Install one finishing nail inside the cabinet to hang the dartboard from.
-
Step 11
Hang the cabinet on the wall so that the bull's-eye of the dartboard is 5 feet 8 inches above the ground.
