Things You'll Need:
- Silk palm tree
- Duster or canned air
- Step ladder
- Warm water or silk plant cleaner
- Basin
- Towels
-
Step 1
Make sure your silk palm tree is easily accessible. If you have placed it in a corner, for instance, move the tree so that there is space for you to maneuver around it while cleaning. If there is a lot of dust, you may want to set your silk palm tree on a towel, to catch the dust that will fall as you clean.
-
Step 2
Set up the step stool. Position the step stool so that you can easily reach the topmost branches of your silk palm tree. Make sure that the step stool is stable, and that your cleaning tools are readily accessible.
-
Step 3
Start dusting from the top down. Use your duster, or a can of air to dust your silk palm tree, beginning at the top and gradually working your way down. A duster is most effective for large amounts of dust, while a can of air can be used to get dust out of smaller areas, crevices and other hard to dust areas.
-
Step 1
Determine the type of cleaner to use. Most silk plants can be cleaned with water, but you should check the guide that came with your silk palm tree to be certain. Silk plant cleaners are more expensive, but can be used on any silk plant, including silk palm trees.
-
Step 2
Start at the top. Just as with dusting, you will want to start cleaning at the top of your silk palm tree, and work your way down. Start at the trunk of the tree and work your way outward to the fronds. Use only just enough cleaner or water to get the job done - don't get your silk palm tree soaking wet.
-
Step 3
Air dry. Let your silk palm tree dry thoroughly before returning it to its proper place in your home or office.
