Your head voice is a beautiful thing! It is what opera singers use. They have the lovely vibrato voice that resonates.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Correct breathing
  • Knowledge of basic singing language
  1. Step 1

Drink water. Water is very important to a singer. Well, eating a little lemon is beneficial to your throat as well. But water is the most essential to singers.

  2. Step 2

The best stance for singing is to stand up straight with one foot slightly in front of the other to keep balance. When people hear "stand up straight," they tend to tilt their head back and look forward as if they're trying to become taller. :) Don't to that. LOL.
Try to have your lips parallel to the floor.

  3. Step 3

Breathe correctly. Do not take shallow breaths. Try to breathe into your back and into the sides of your ribs.

  4. Step 4

I know this sounds silly, but it tends to work for everyone that's told this. To get into your head voice, all you need to do is imitate an opera singer. If you were to joke around with one of your friends, how would you imitate an opera singer? Chances are when you do so, you are using your head voice! The way you know for sure is when you feel a little vibration in your head. :)

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you've learned how to use your head voice, you can add expression to it. Vibrato is a beautiful technique when used in a head voice. Vibrato is when you vibrate your voice a half step up and down. I can add so much character to your song!

on 6/3/2009 :-) ...great memories. I never was much of a vocalist, but we were all required to study and participate in "monster chorus" during band camp. I actually learned a lot. good stuff. 5*
