Things You'll Need:
- Mild Soap
- Water
- Benzoyl Peroxide
- Antibiotics
- Prescription cream or gels
-
Step 1
Acne treatment of any kind will only be effective if you clean your face at least two times daily with mild soap and water. Mild soaps like Dove or Neutrogena seem to work best. They will remove dirt and oil but your skin will not become overly dry.
-
Step 2
If washing your face regularly with a mild soap does not improve your acne you should move onto a more aggressive form of acne treatment. Continue washing your face with mild soap but also apply a benzoyl peroxide treatment to affected areas. Clearasil works very well.
-
Step 3
If these first two steps do not work for you and your acne vulgaris persists you should schedule an appointment with your doctor. Your doctor can prescribe an antibiotic as well as prescription ointments to help treat your acne. Be clear with your doctor about what steps you have tried so you can develop a course of acne treatment that works for you.
