I have a Creative Zen - Vision: M and my PC is running Ubuntu 8.04. When I used Windows XP & Vista, as soon as I plugged in my Zen, Windows found it immediately and was syncing music on it using WMPlayer. When I switched to Ubuntu Linux, as soon as I plugged in my Zen, NOTHING. It did not even see it as a Hard Drive. Here is how I synced my music on my Zen using Ubuntu 8.04.

Go to APPLICATIONS -> SOUND & VIDEO -> Gnomad 2

  6. Step 6

Your Zen will automatically be recognized when Gnomad2 loads, your Zen will go into sync mode, and you'll see the window to put mp3's on your Zen. It worked for me.

Tips & Warnings
  • This worked successfully in Ubuntu 8.04 and I think works the same with 8.10 (Don't quote me on that).
