If the ice maker on your Samsung refrigerator is not working, you can troubleshoot the unit before contacting an authorized service center.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Samsung refrigerator unit
  • Water filter
  1. Step 1

Check the water supply valve and make sure it is fully open.

  2. Step 2

Look at the wiring harness connection and installation. If your unit was just installed and the doors were removed, a bad connection could be affecting the ice maker.

  3. Step 3

Check the water flow from the water dispenser. If the flow seems slow or weak, replace the filter regardless of the age of the filter.

  4. Step 4

Make sure the ice maker is turned on and that there is power to the unit.

  5. Step 5

Make sure the unit's doors are securely and properly closed.

  6. Step 6

Check the freezer temperature. A too-warm freezer can cause ice-maker malfunction. The manufacturer's recommended temperature is -2 degrees F.

  7. Step 7

Reset the ice maker. The location of the reset button varies based on the style of unit. After resetting, wait 24 hours and check if ice production has begun.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your ice maker is not producing ice after following all of these suggestions, schedule your unit for service by calling 1-800-samsung or visiting samsung.com and clicking on "repair." Make sure you have your model and serial numbers ready.
  • Do not attempt any electrical repair without unplugging the unit.
