Julienne cutting means that you cut vegetables, fruits or meat into very thin, concise strips that almost resemble matches. It can be difficult to julienne meat since meat is thicker and may not have as clean of a cut as vegetables do while being sliced. It may even be more difficult to julienne meat with a slicer. However, once you get the hang of it you can create julienne meat into an impressive display for a dinner spread or party.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Slicer
  • Cutting board
  • Meat
  1. Step 1

Set up the slicer over the cutting board. Place the meat onto the board.

  2. Step 2

Line up the edge of the meat to the corner of the slicer very carefully. There should be about 1/2 a centimeter of meat on the other side of the blade.

  3. Step 3

Lower the slicer slowly and carefully, to make sure you get a precise cut. After you are satisfied with the first julienne cut meat strip, slowly slide the meat under the blade again, about 1/2 a centimeter. Lower the slicer as you did the first time. Repeat this procedure until you have as much meat as desired in a julienne cut.

  4. Step 4

Make sure all the meat pieces are equal sized and appear clean cut. Doing this can be difficult with a slicer--more so than a regular knife since a slicer is a large piece of equipment.

  5. Step 5

Clean the slicer blade with antibacterial wash until you use it again.
