How to Remove a Brand Name Car Stereo

One of the most important steps in replacing your car stereo is properly removing the name-brand car stereo you are currently using. If you remove the stereo improperly, you could damage the speakers, wiring and other important pieces that you will need to hook up your new stereo.

Instructions

1. Disconnect your car battery.

2. Remove the dashboard surrounding your car stereo for access to the stereo.

3. Unscrew the screws holding your car stereo in place. Slide the stereo out of the dashboard.

4. Carefully disconnect the power, ignition and speaker wires attached to your stereo.
