Woven rugs have been around for centuries in one form or another. There are many different types of looms to use, depending on the size of the rug and the experience of the weaver. Learning to weave rugs is a relaxing pastime, and as your experience grows, selling rugs can provide additional income. A simple wooden frame is all that is needed for a beginner.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1-by-2 boards
  • Eye hooks or screws
  • Tape measure
  • Circular saw
  • Nails
  • Hammer
  1. Step 1

Determine the size of the rug you will be making. Measure the width and the length. Make the frame 2 inches larger on all sides than the rug size. This is so the rug will fit inside the frame.

  2. Step 2

Measure and mark a spot every 2 inches for the eye hooks or screws all the way around the frame on the outside front. Attach the eye hooks or screws at these marks. Then follow the desired pattern for the making of the rug.
