Because Pagans follow a minority religion that does not receive mainstream attention, they may find themselves misunderstood. Regardless of your own religion, showing a Pagan woman that you respect, seek to understand and can appreciate her beliefs and lifestyle can help open the possibilities of forming a relationship.

1. Learn the sect of Paganism your love interest ascribes to. Differentiate between Palopaganism, which generally denotes Paganism with unadulterated, early European roots; Neopaganism, which centers heavily around forces of nature and pre-Christian belief systems; and Mesopaganism, which tends to focus on one, two, or no gods.

2. Venture into the outdoors. Pagans tend to feel especially connected to the ocean, the earth, forests or fire and all sects value the gifts of the planet. Show respect for the natural world by recycling, conserving and "going green." Suggest a stroll through a park, a hike, or a day of contemplative conversation on the sand.

3. Educate yourself. Much of the Pagan belief system and history can be learned through books. Select a Pagan favorite such as "Drawing Down the Moon" by Margot Adler, "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk or the classic Pagan text, "The Book of Shadows." Read your selection, noting portions you have questions on. Open a discussion with your Pagan love interest, asking her to clarify your questions.

4. Give her a Pagan-inspired gift. Give gifts that have ritualistic value, such as candles, stones or quartz crystals. Select pure herbs and teas that can be used both for ritual and enjoyment. Purchase a deck of Pagan Tarot cards, or give her a certificate to have her Tarot cards read. Give special gifts such as hand-carved or painted decorative boxes that can provide storage for sacred artifacts or Celtic silver jewelry to adorn herself with.

5. Take her on a date she'll appreciate. Head to a drum circle, where simple rhythms are played or ad-libbed. Check listings for your neighborhood to see if there is a local arts and crafts festival or Renaissance Faire in town, as these are often activities with ties to Paganism.

6. Ask her what her favorite type of music is, as each Pagan has individualized styles and tastes. Surprise her with music that has large Pagan followings, such as industrial, goth, electronic dance, Celtic or death metal music. Find a lyric by her favorite band and inscribe it in a card to show that you're listening.
