How to be the Best Mary Kay Cosmetics Consultant

Being the best Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant can be a little tricky. There are so many women to compete against and there are so many of them who are so nice and know everything about what they're talking about. You're going to have to make yourself stand out! And the best way to do that is to wow your clients at the Hostess Parties.

1. Begin the Hostess Party by welcoming everyone and thanking the hostess. Be sure to say her name if you want to really show off what an attentive Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant you are.

2. Tell the women present that you are going to focus on pampering their faces, lips and hands today. Be sure to convey that there just isn't enough time to give everyone a full Mary Kay color treatment.

3. Invite the women to tell you and each other their name, how they know the hostess, where they work and any skin care wishes they may have. These things are very important to remember. Women who work as stay-at-home moms or in other home businesses may be interested in hearing more about Mary Kay. Their skin care wishes should be heeded when it comes time to give them a facial.

4. Make sure to tell them that you are happy to be working with them and that you are committed to helping each one find the product that is right for them.

5. Give each person the appropriate skin cleanser: 3-in-1 oily, dry or Velocity for teens.

6. Have them cleanse their faces of any makeup they are already wearing as well as any dirt they've collected through the day.

7. Apply the appropriate moisturizer.

8. Assist the group in applying their Mary Kay foundation; be sure it's in the proper shade for each person. Remember the Mary Kay consultant is to keep their hands off their client. You want them to be able to apply the makeup by themselves.

9. Encourage the women to use a cotton ball to apply a light layer of Mary Kay cheek color.

10. Take this moment to remind them that while there is only that splash of color today they can set up a one-on-one appointment with you to find shades that will really make their features pop.

11. Be sure to compliment each woman, no matter what you are complimenting. Usually after this basic skin care you can see tightened pores and smoother complexions. Make each woman feel important and beautiful, but don't overdo it. You want to sound sincere because you are sincere, not force it because you have to.

12. Introduce the Name Game or the Fish Bowl(instructions and necessary printouts can be found in the resource section below).

13. When you're done with the game, hand out the set flier you received with your starter kit. Talk about each set, especially if you used portions of it on the women present.

14. If you're running any special promotions on these sets mention them now.

15. Return attention to the Hostess who has been gracious enough to invite everyone into her home to receive this pampering.

16. Show the Mary Kay Hostess Gift and give it to the hostess to hold.

17. Tell the guests that they can help her(use her name) earn this gift, because as long as two of them set up for a one-on-one Mary Kay color consultation, she will win that gift.

18. Put yourself head and shoulders above other Mary Kay Cosmetics consultants when you hold individual exit meetings with each woman.
