You can make inexpensive wine from common items around your home. This process of wine making is very simple, and by the end of the process you should a very drinkable table wine. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 3 cans of 100% frozen grape juice plus 4 cans of water (2 cans each)
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 gallon container

      In a clean the milk jug, combine the juice, water and sugar in the jug. Shake well to mix.

      Baking Yeast

      Now to add the yeast (follow packet instructions). First it needs to be hydrated. In a small bowl add about a ¼ cup of warm water. Add yeast and do not stir. Once hydrated, and a spoon of sugar and wait until the mixtures foams. Once all of the yeast has foamed, add to the jug. Shake vicariously until mixed.

      Place the cap loose on the jug, so the gases from the fermentation process to escape. The fermentation process should start within about 12 hours. You should see bubble and hear popping. Store in a warm place until fermentation stops 2-4 weeks.

      Once fermentation stops you need to rack the wine by carefully pouring off the wine from the sludge (dead yeast) from the bottom. Wash the jug and return the wine. Close the jug with the cap and refrigerate for a few weeks. The longer you wait the better the wine will taste.
