By making your own salves you can use for many irritations. Natural remedies will have antibacterial properties.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
    Evening Primrose Oil
    Evening Primrose Oil

    Place 1 part Calendula, 1 part comfrey leaf, and 1 part St. John's wort in a large pot, slow cooker or crock pot. Cover herbs with oil to be covered by inch of oil. Heat until oil shimmers.
    Reduce heat and simmer for 3 hours.
    Remove from heat and let cool.
    Pour mixture through cheese cloth and discard solids.

  2. Step 2
    Chamomile
    Chamomile

    Add 2 -4 parts beeswax or cocoa butter and heat to melt.
    Test a little with a spoon to see if it is thick enough.
    It should be thick enough to stand the spoon up.
    Mix in essential oils.
    Store in tins or jars.

  3. Step 3
    Witch Hazel
    Witch Hazel

    To cure Inflammation and itching use Evening primrose oil, licorice, or chamomile.

  4. Step 4
    Aloe Plant
    Aloe Plant

    To cure Hemorrhoids add Witch Hazel or Horse Chestnut to your mixture.

  5. Step 5

    To help with scrapes and burns add Aloe Vera or Calendula to your salve mix.

  6. Step 6

    To relieve stings or bites add Comfrey or Calendula to the mix.

  7. Step 7

    To help with acne add Calendula or Witch Hazel to your salve.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can make any kind of mixture with the basic salve recipe.
