Short term loans, also known as cash advances or payday loans, are widely available regardless of credit. The money from the loans can be used for everything from paying bills to buying gifts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Job/Paystub (possibly 6 months)
  • Bank account (for direct deposit) open at least 1 month
  • Internet access/fax machine
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you want to use a national (online) or local loan company. Many online services require faxing and a checking/savings account. However, a local service may allow you to complete the transaction face to face as in a bank like setting, where you can get the cash in hand and be able to pay them back in cash.

  2. Step 2

Search payday loan companies in your internet browser. There you can find out the requirements and loan options. Carefully choose your loan option. Some loans have high repayment rates. Be sure to pick an option you can repay.

  3. Step 3

Apply and complete the application. The application usually asks for your: name, address, social, dl/id, dob, email, job (employer and pay periods) and bank information, as well as having you create an account so you can manage your loan.

  4. Step 4

The next step is to choose your loan amount and the repayment schedule. The loan amount and repayment schedule depend on the information you have provided. Most companies allow you to pay the loan back in installments in which you pay the interest and in the final installment, the premium at your next pay day. Others expect payment of the entire loan including interest at your next pay period.

  5. Step 5

The last step is to confirm your information and get approval notification. In this step the lender is trying to verify as much information as it can. If your info is accurate, the lender will let you know if you have been approved. You should receive notification through email or a phone call with further instructions as to when you can expect to receive your funds or if more info is needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • You have to be employed and have regular imcome.
  • Most services (online) require you have a bank account.
  • You must be at least 18.
  • You must make at least $1,000 per month.
  • You can't owe another loan.
  • You have to live in the state in which you are applying
  • Payday loans can be very expensive to pay back.
  • Only use sparingly or in extreme emergencies.

on 11/7/2009 An informative article but pay day loans didn't work for me. The 285% interest rate on a $500 loan resulted in my having to reborrow monthly for 2 years until I could get out of it as even a short term loan can get expensive.
