How to Make a Pinup Flower Hair Clip

Make your own flower clip to complement your new hair style.

One of the most beautiful accessories a pinup girl can wear is an oversized flower in her hair. Finding one can be difficult and expensive, but making one is fun and affordable. With the right tools and some patience, you can make a custom hair clip using a colorful silk flower.

Things You'll Need

• Silk flower
• Wire cutters
• Hair comb or barrette
• Hot glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Scissors
• Flat-back rhinestones
• Permanent adhesive
• Toothpick

Instructions

1. Turn on your hot glue gun and allow it to properly heat up, following the manufacturer's instructions.

2. Remove the stem from the silk flower using your wire cutters. Make sure not to damage the plastic casing that holds the silk flower together.

3. Attach the flower to the hair clip or barrette with the glue gun. Place a small strip of the hot glue onto the hair clip and gently press the flower into place.

4. Allow the glue to dry completely. If you notice any glue "strings," cut them with a pair of scissors.

5. Attach several flat-back rhinestones to the flower petals for added glamor and charm. Do this using a permanent fabric adhesive and toothpick. Allow the glue to dry completely before using the hair clip.
