Things You'll Need:
- Campfire
- Heavy Large Pot
- Smaller Pot
-
Step 1
This is a great Campfire Recipe for Potatoes Au Gratin. Here are the ingredients you will need:
* 1 Can Corned Beef OR 2 Cans Drained Tuna (Chose what you like best)
* 2 Boxes Potatoes Au Gratin
* 6 Cups Water
* 1/2 Cup Dry Milk Powder
* 1/4 Cup Butter, Margerine OR Vegetable Oil (Optional)
Get your fire going. In a small pot bring 6 cups of water to boil. -
Step 2
Layer the following in a a large heavy pot:
Layer #1 - Spread Corned Beef OR Drained Tuna in the bottom of the heavy pot.
Layer #2 - Top with the potatoes from the boxes of Au Gratin Potatoes
Layer #3 - Sprinkle the cheese powder from the boxes of Au Gratin Potatoes over the top of the potatoes.
Layer #4 - Top cheese powder with butter, margarine, OR vegetable oil. This is an optional step but does help keep the liquid from boiling over. If you have a deep enough pot you can skip this step.
Layer #5 - Add 1/2 cup dry milk powder to boiling water in small pot and stir. Pour this mixture evenly over the top of the potatoes. -
Step 3
Place the pot over or to the side of the fire and let the pot simmer gently for 40 minutes or so. You will need to make sure the potatoes cook evenly by turning the pot occasionally.
