Step 1
Write the basic logistical information on your checklist. This includes choosing a location (generally, the school auditorium), and reserving it for the appropriate day and time. Check these off once you have successfully reserved your location.
-
Step 2
Add the auction necessities to your checklist. This should include tables, chairs, a treasurer, an auctioneer (if desired) and other volunteers to help staff the auction. Check each of these off once you have confirmed they will be available on the date you chose.
-
Step 3
Add various local businesses to your checklist that might be willing to donate a prize for bidding. Make two check boxes next to each business: one to check off once the business owner has been asked to donate, and a second box to check off once the promised donation (or gift certificate) has been received.
-
Step 4
Write down the names of teachers at your school whose departments make things, like Art, Shop and Home Economics. Make two check boxes next to each teacher's name. Check off the first box once you have asked the teacher if he might be willing to make a product to auction with some of the students, and check off the second box once the product is complete and received.
-
Step 5
Think of other types of things people might want to bid on in an auction, and write them down on your list. This may include baked goods, pottery or simple services like car washing. Check these off once you find a student (or teacher) willing to donate them.
