Dishwashers are simple to use, their cleaning power easily out-performs washing by hand and energy-saving dishwashers may be better for the environment. However, appliance breakdowns, part-failure and glitches are often the price for convenience. Fortunately, many dishwasher repairs can be done yourself. If there is a problem with your Danby dishwasher's spray arm, or if you need to remove the spray arm to access another part of the dishwasher, it's not a difficult process.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Disconnect the power source by unplugging the dishwasher, removing the fuse or flipping the circuit breaker to cut power.

  2. Step 2

Remove the lower dish rack from the washer.

  3. Step 3

Remove the spray tower in the center of the spray arm by unscrewing it by hand. Depending on the model, your Danby dishwasher may not have a spray tower.

  4. Step 4

Use the screwdriver to remove the bolt in the center of the spray arm.

  5. Step 5

Pull up on the spray arm to lift it up and out. You may need to gently rock the arm back and forth to remove it.
