How to Make a J-Lo Scarf

Scarves are great when you are having a bad hair day or for when you just do not feel like spending a lot of time on your hair. Scarves can also be an expensive accessory. But you can make your own J-Lo scarf, without having to spend much money. You can also choose the color and customize it for a perfect fit.

Things You'll Need

• Material
• Thread
• Needle
• Scissors

Instructions

1. 

   Purchase a light, semitransparent material. A yard should be fine for this project. Also get a thread that matches the color of the material.

2. 

   Take an edge of the material, and fold it down. Form it into a large triangle. Use a ruler to measure the scarf from the triangle tip to the bottom of the scarf. A small scarf is around 12 inches, a medium scarf is 14 inches, and a large scarf is 16 inches or larger.

3. 

   Cut out the triangle to the desired size. Then sew down all the edge seams. Try on the scarf. Use the long side edges as a tie, and tuck in any loose material under the tie knot.

• Purchase a big pair of sunglasses to match the J-Lo look.

• Wear a shirt that matches your scarf for a complete outfit.

• Wrap a piece of scarf material around your purse handle for added flair.

• If you are using a material that frays, allow 2 more inches for a seam allowance.
