Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Microphone (optional)
  1. Step 1

Create musical beats at JamStudio.com. Jam Studio is a free online program that allows you to easily create your own songs. Sign up for a free membership to get started composing music using a variety of instruments and sounds. If you would like to save your music to listen to later, purchase an All Access Pass.

  2. Step 2

Create your own song with drums, guitar, bass and piano. Experiment with your music by adding loops or different chords. Once you are done composing your song, press "Play" to listen to your music. To record your music, download the optional recording feature.

  3. Step 3

Create your own music on Musicshake's site by combining instruments, sounds, vocal samples and beats. Plug a microphone into your computer to record your own voice. Save your new music to your computer or upload it to your iPod or MP3 player. The free download is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

  4. Step 4

Record your own dance beats with the easy-to-use keyboard at the Tony B Machine website. Control the settings for bass, melody, kick and snare. If you want to record tracks, complete the website's free registration.

Tips & Warnings
  • Convert your favorite poems or other text into a musical composition using the P22 Music Text Composition Generator (see Resources). Browse Jam Studio's forums to listen to other people's music or to get new ideas for songs.
