You finished editing your video but you're not sure how to export it and what settings to use. Avid Xpress Pro HD supports multiple exporting formats---including Quicktime and Windows Media player---and with different codecs to compress your videos. The quality and resolution of your exported video depends on the export options and format you choose.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Avid Axpress Pro HD Software
  1. Step 1

Click on your named sequence in the bin, then click the file option and select export button. On the export window, click "Options." Next, select Quicktime movie in the "Export As" section. Click the custom button then select options.

  2. Step 2

Click the settings tool, then select a codec to export your video. Choose from DNxHD, H.264, Sorenson movie and more. DNxHD gives a high-definition code that compresses videos at a higher resolution but at larger files, H.264 is a standard codec used for compressing high-quality files at smaller sizes. It is generally the standard codec for Internet videos. Use your manual to better understand different codec types.

  3. Step 3

Click the quality settings to adjust the quality to best setting. Click the okay button on the movie settings page; choose from 320x240 to 1920x1080HD resolutions. The larger the resolutions the clearer the images, but longer export time and video size. Select smaller resolutions, such as 640x480, for websites.

  4. Step 4

Click on the 1280x720 resolutions for high-definition playback on websites that support high-definition playback such as Vimeo and Youtube. After selecting the right video resolution, click the okay button.

  5. Step 5

Click the okay button on the movie setting option. Click the save button on the new window. Name your video clip and then click the save button. Your movie should begin exporting. The percentage elapsed as the video is exported is displayed on your screen.

  6. Step 6

Click on your sequence to highlight it in the bin to export for your iPod. Click the file option and select the export tool. On the export window, select the iPod or iPhone option. The settings are standard for your iPhone.

  7. Step 7

Click one of the given options to export video and audio, video alone or just audio. Click even option to avoid interlacing of images. When you are done, click the save button. Under file name, name your clip then click the save button to begin exporting your video.

  8. Step 8

Click on your video sequence to export it as a Windows Media video. Click the files tool and select the export button. Click the settings option on the export window, then select "Windows Media" to export. Click the video tool to change the length and width of your video.

  9. Step 9

Click on the 2 pass encoding option, then type 100 on the quality option. Leave the rest of the sections as they are, then click the save button Title your movie, then click save button to begin exporting.

  10. Step 10

Click on your sequence to export it as an audio file. Click the file button then select the export tool. Click the options tool on the new window. Then select audio on the new window.

  11. Step 11

Click the stereo option for left and right playback, then change the sample rate and bit depth. A higher bit depth gives you a fuller, less grainy sound. The quality is higher and clearer. Select from WAV or AIFF-C in the wave format section. WAV files are high-quality compressed audio, AIFF-C is uncompressed and will be larger in size. Click the okay tool then name your clip and save to begin the export.
