If you have only a single cracked concrete roof tile, it may seem easier at first to replace it, but fading from the sun and the elements could make a replacement tile stand out like a sore thumb. Minor cracks in only one or two tiles can easily be repaired without calling in the professionals. Repaired tiles will not be perfect, but most of the imperfections from repairing minor cracks and small holes will not be visible from the ground.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Scrub the cracked tile with a wire brush and water to remove any sediment that may be in the crack. Allow the tile to air-dry.

  2. Step 2

Use the putty knife to smooth the roofing cement over the crack, forcing cement into the crack until it is filled. Wipe away excess cement with the putty knife and allow the cement to dry for 2 hours.

  3. Step 3

Sand any rough or uneven areas of the cement down with fine-grit sandpaper. Be gentle so as not to crack the tile again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use caution when walking on a tile roof to avoid cracking additional tiles. Have a partner on the ground to ensure your safety when working on a roof.
